    Description

    Round PTFE Rod, 1.1 inch Diameter, 24" Length
    PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) is a fluoropolymer with many applications. It mechanical properties are a little weaker than other engineering polymers, but it is very heat stable and has a useful range from -400°F to +500°F (-240°C to +260°C). It maintains high strength, toughness and self-lubrication at low temperatures and can be used to make parts for cryogenic applications. It has a very low coefficient of friction and therefore often is used in sliders, hinges and bearings. PTFE is a chemically very stable material and therefore is used in chemical vessels, reactors and for machine parts exposed to chemicals. It has very good non-stick properties and is an excellent electrical insulator. This round rod stock is ideal for turning on a lathe or machining parts on your CNC or mini CNC router. The ends of the rod are cut with a saw.
    Many 1" PTFE rods are actually 25 mm in diameter and not 25.4 mm as a full inch is. This PTFE rod is slightly oversized at 1.1 inch (28mm) in diameter and therefore ideal if you want to make true 1" parts or threads. It can be turned on a lathe or machined to precisely 1 inch parts.
